Chili/Chowder/Soup Cookoff Vendors
IGNITE invites you to participate in the IGNITE the Winter 2019 festival at the Hilton Garden Inn. The festival will include musical performances, a live ice sculpture demonstration, family fun, local wine & beer sales, and a chili/chowder/soup cookoff offering a taste of Cayuga County’s eateries.
This is an opportunity for you to showcase your best recipes and to market your business & products to the community at large. IGNITE the Winter is backed by an advertising & promotional campaign including print, internet, and radio. Winners will be announced at the event, as well as in local media. This is a great marketing opportunity for your business. We welcome you to share your literature, menus & coupons with attendees, and be creative & fun with your display space!
Participating vendors will set up inside the Hilton Garden Inn. Cookoff participants must provide a minimum of 5 gallons of ready-to-eat chili, chowder, and/or soup prepared in advance off-site; and server(s), and a heat source to keep food warm from 5 – 8 PM. There will be electricity available but absolutely no propane allowed!
Tasting cups, spoons and napkins will be provided. Participants will serve 2-oz tastings which patrons will provide vendors with a food ticket. This is a judged cookoff with cash prizes and recognition for Best Chili and Best Chowder/Soup, as well as a People’s Choice Award. Participants may enter into one or both categories. Awards will be announced and presented at the end of the event.

IGNITE is coordinating again with our local soup kitchens to pick up any remaining food from participating vendors who wish to donate leftovers. The soup kitchens will handle everything, including storage. If you are interested in donating, please check the appropriate spot on the registration form.
All participating vendors must obtain a Temporary Food Service Permit from the Cayuga County Health Department in advance of the event. This permit must be displayed at all times during the cookoff. A PDF of the application can be downloaded here or at www.cayugacounty.us/food.
You must return the original completed Temporary Food Service Application, required supporting documentation and check for $30, to Cayuga County Health Department, 8 Dill Street, Auburn. (Entrance is located near the old Bank of America drive-thru.) If you have questions about the County’s food permit, please contact Duane Ross at (315) 253-1536, or other County staff in that department.
PLEASE NOTE: While a $30 fee is charged by the Health Department for a vendor permit, there is no additional event registration fee charged.
Please complete the following steps by the February 22nd, 2019 deadline:
- Complete and submit the registration form on this page.
- Submit a copy of Certificate of Liability Insurance to IGNITE, listing the City of Auburn and IGNITE as both additional insured for March 1, 2019.
- Submit your completed Temporary Food Service Permit application to the Cayuga County Health Department, as well as a copy to IGNITE, in advance of the event.
