Who We Are

IGNITE is a group of young professionals who actively work to inspire, engage, and challenge the people and businesses of Cayuga County. We use networking, professional development, and community participation as tools to achieve real advancement for residents and businesses. Simply put, IGNITE is a launching pad for the next wave of Cayuga County leadership.

What We Do

IGNITE inspires conversations, volunteerism, economic involvement, and civic awareness through our network of young professionals. Through these means, IGNITE members have the opportunity to contribute to countless prominent events, including hosting monthly “Meet & Do” style events. By taking advantage of these occasions, IGNITE members can forge a place in their community: Cayuga County. A little city, a little country, and a whole lot of opportunity. We IGNITE possibility in CNY!

IGNITE was formed in 2004 as a way to bring young professionals together for networking, educational opportunities, and public service.

Terri Bridenbecker

From its inception, IGNITE found a supporter in Chamber Director Terri Bridenbecker; who saw young professionals as vitally important to the future. Following her unexpected passing in 2009, her family asked that donations be made to IGNITE to help fund future initiatives.

Gaining ground…

IGNITE then concentrated on community growth, turning its attention to advocacy, volunteerism, and improving its visual identity. To execute this initiative, a new logo and mission statement were created to match IGNITE’s new focus.

IGNITE Advocacy

Recognizing the importance of young professionals in the community, IGNITE pushed for representation on community boards and government, notably earning a spot on the Auburn city manager search committee.

Community Involvement

IGNITE made a difference through volunteerism, holding supply drives, serving dinner at Chapel House, volunteering at Relay for Life, holding a fundraiser for Matthew House, and participating in the Y-Pals program and more.

Gateway Makeover

In 2012, IGNITE received a grant to help the Auburn Beautification Commission install two new gateway signs, welcoming visitors to Auburn on Genesee Street and Lake Avenue.

Formal Membership

As IGNITE’s success continues, paid memberships offer a revenue stream that provides seed money for IGNITE initiatives. New and renewed card-carrying members still enjoy discounts at local businesses throughout the community.

10 Years Later…

Today, IGNITE maintains many of the ideals it’s become known for over the past 10 years: service to the community, advocacy for young professionals and supporting the local economy. IGNITE reaches more people than ever through partnerships, special events and more.
