Auburn City Manager Search
IGNITE’s plea before City Council for a more diverse City Manager Search Committee in March resulted in a very qualified IGNITE Steering Committee Member and HR professional being recommended and nominated for the committee. Thereafter, IGNITE conducted a Young Professionals Public Forum to gather input on what was important to them regarding the new city manager and the city of Auburn in general. This was the first step in formulating a Young Professionals Agenda for Auburn and Cayuga County.

Councilors: We’re hearing your thoughts on city manager search

“The councilors named Jessica Kolodzie to replace Carey Eidel on the city manager search committee. Kolodzie was nominated by Brower upon a recommendation by IGNITE, a local organization for young professionals.”

“Nearly a fourth of the attendees were members of the young professionals group IGNITE.”
http://auburnpub.com/news/opinion/columnists/article_6ec4d8dc-6179-11e0-a80a-001cc4c002e0.html
“Only by the shear fact that Carey Eidel, one of the original appointees, withdrew his name after appointment, did a woman, let alone, a young professional (Kolodzie) get asked to participate in the search process. That came only after criticism from IGNITE (the young professionals group), other community members and this newspaper’s editorial board, among others. With the process shielded from the public (no one “officially” knew that a search committee was being created until the names popped up in a city council resolution, naming them), one has to question the sincerity of post appointment scrambling to include a more diverse population within the process.”
